ABOUT THE TOOL
About this independent STL splitting tool
STL Splitter helps divide a closed 3D model into smaller, capped parts for printing. It runs in your browser: choose a file, set the cuts, inspect the results and download the pieces.
One engine, four starting points
The printer-fit workspace makes a regular grid based on build volume. The STL cutter places one plane at a precise coordinate. You can also choose a part grid or cut at the midpoint. All four modes use the same Manifold WebAssembly geometry engine in a background Web Worker.
What this version does
ASCII and binary STL files are interpreted in millimeters. Cuts are perpendicular to X, Y or Z. The engine seals the cut faces and preserves internal cavities. Individual downloads are binary STL files; the batch download is a ZIP containing those same parts.
What to check before printing
Build-volume fitting uses the model’s current orientation. It does not rotate parts, pack a print bed, design joints or guarantee that a thin section will print successfully. Confirm scale, supports, brims, printer restrictions and assembly in your slicer.
Open or inconsistent meshes need repair before cutting. Identical duplicate facets and globally reversed winding can be normalized, but general mesh repair and connected-part separation are outside this version.
Independent and local
STL Splitter is independently maintained and free to use. It has no printer manufacturer affiliation and does not require an account or paid plan. Its purpose is to make straightforward cuts available without installing desktop modeling software.
Processing happens on your device rather than a geometry server. The website itself must still be loaded over a network when visited online. Read the privacy policy for the distinction between loading the website and handling a model file.
Feedback and limitations
The contact page lists any available direct feedback channel. If none is listed, direct support is unavailable. You can still use the tool without submitting a model or personal details. Error reports are most useful with the selected mode, settings and exact message; private design files are not needed to explain a problem.
